So far so good... I installed Ubuntu on my desktop and use VMware to run Windows Vista so I can do browser testing with Internet Explorer. Kind of feels nice to put Windows in its place - in an application inside Linux. I also installed Apache2, PHP and MySQL for learning purposes and so I can test locally.
As a side note Google released their Chrome browser today for Windows. The browser is more and more becoming the platform for doing just about anything on a computer - chat, email, collaborate shop, bank and get the news to name a few . What better way for Google to dominate than by controlling the platform.
My co-workers seem nice and the company buys the programmers lunch everyday. The first day we had Perkins and today we had Jersey Mike's Subs. We also get free drinks (lots of so called "energy drinks" and soda).
Their applications are built on an MVC framework that they developed in house with PHP/MySQL/JavaScript and lots of AJAX. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it out.
We work 10am - 6pm with most people getting there a little earlier and leaving a little later. I would prefer getting there earlier like 8am - 4,5pm.
It seems like a nice place to work if I can pick up on the coding quickly.
